Executive Master in International Politics, Executive Master in Governance & Development Policy and Tailor-made Intensive Courses may be taken as part of a distance learning programme. Using a personal User Name & password, participants have access to the courses trough an interactive extranet and intranet Web Site. Participants have access to interactive live courses and tutorials via the Zoom video conference system, they also have access to streaming and documentations via E-community platform.
Participants have the possibility of downloading the Outlines & handouts prepared by the lecturers, the Proceedings or course synopses and Background readings or indeed any other printed document. Access to audio/video recordings also forms part of the course materials. They have also access to media library with oustanding seminars, conferences, e-documents and useful links. Candidates work with a supervisor who provides them with the teaching framework and necessary academic guidance. They keep in regular contact by e-mail & computer-assisted video conferences.
❶ We merely send you a Zoom link over e-mail for you to click on, and you’re in the game.
❷ If you log in before class time, you must wait in the waiting room.
❸ From that point the lecturer “share” his screen which becomes visible to all participants.
❹ We also have a “moderator” online, to control the microphones of the participants, so two-way conversations can go without anybody interrupting anybody else. Our audience is very disciplined (ambassadors, senior officials…).
In order to best satisfy the expectations of our participants, CERIS has put in place a new distance Learning platform as well as a new and more ergonomic Website, which is easy to use and which allows a prompt and faster access to desired information. The new e-Learning Platform is captioned «e-Community» on the website and it is accessible via the button located on the top right-hand side of the site. To access the functionality of this platform, each participant will receive a personalized «User Name» and «Password». Once the participant logins into the e-community platform, all the modules of the courses offered by CERIS will appear. Participants will be requested to introduce their personal “User Name” & ”Password”. Furthermore, during the first visit of a module, a « key » which allows the access to this particular module will be required. This «key» will be definitively associated to the «User Name» and «Password». The participants will not have to introduce it during subsequent visits to access the same module. The Keys will be distributed by CERIS at the end of each module, allowing the candidate a comfortable revision of all courses.
It should be noted that the «User Name» and «Password» are personalized and can under no circumstances be used by another person other than the participant. Multiple use of the «User Name» and «Password» by persons other than the participants and other forms of abuse will be detected via the «key» and this will tantamount to the automatic deactivation of the «User Name» and «Password» in question and the participant will be definitively prohibited from having access to useful information.
At the top of the module, participants will find general information (proceedings, bibliographies,…) linked to the module. The course module is subdivided into lessons delivered by various professors. The associated documents such as (VIDEO, AUDIO, Power Point, PDF, READINGS) are available next to the photos of the various professors. Added to the aforementioned lecture notes, we shall provide access to a media library which will host several outstanding seminars and conferences as well as a lecture archives (next to the documents available to participants is the date, preceded by the word « Archive » for documents of the preceding academic year). The media library is made available to participants to enhance their understanding of various current issues. However these does not constitute part of the material to be studied for the exams. At the end of each module, recommended websites, e-documents and useful links recommended both by CERIS and the lecturers. Electronic books written and published by the outstanding lectures of CERIS as well as documentaries and movies related to the theme of the module will be available in this section as well.
❶ Click on the button labeled e-Community at the top right-hand side of the CERIS website (www.ceris.be)
❷ Select the desired module of your programme.
❸ Enter your « User Name » and « Password ».
❹ To have initial access to a desired module, you will be required to enter the « key » of the module (Enrolment Key).
❺ Participants can download the proceedings of the module just above.
❻ Participants can equally download various AUDIO, VIDEO, PDF, PowerPoint and READINGS related to a given lesson next to the lecture’s photo.
❼ Participants can also access the media library & CERIS Archives.
The lecture is specified next to each document available to our participants, preceded by the word “Archive” for all the documents of the lectures of the preceding years. The media library is made available to participants to enhance their general knowledge but does not constitute part of the material to be studied for the grand oral examinations. Electronic books written and published by the outstanding lectures of CERIS as well as documentaries and movies related to the theme of the module recommended both by CERIS and the lecturers, are available on the website at the end of each module, in the section captioned “Recommended Website, e-documents & useful links”.
