
Alexander Dubeck is prominent figure in 1968 of “The Prague Spring”, he was a Slovak politician that tried to reform the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. He’s ambition was to give socialism a human face, and he sought this goal by giving more liberties to the citizens. In the late 60s he held the position of Secretary of the Czechoslovakian Communist Party for a short period of time. From this position he was able to put in practice reforms meant to liberalize the Communist regime. His efforts were crushed by a Soviet-led intervention. After the overthrowing of the communist regime he supported the democratization process in Czechoslovakia and became the Chairman of Czecho-Slovak Federal Assembly as leader of the Social Democratic party of Slovakia
