
His Excellency François de Kerchove d’Exaerde started his diplomatic career in 1989 and held consecutive posts in Kuwait City, Tokyo, Osaka and Berlin. In Belgium, he was responsible for the Afghanistan and Pakistan dossiers, before becoming Director of the Royal Institute for International Relations (Egmont). He then became Deputy Director for Security Policy, after which he took over the management of the department. He has served as Belgian Ambassador in the European Union’s Political and Security Committee (PSC) since June 2011. He became Director of the Private Office of the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs (Déc 2011). H.E. François de Kerchove d’Exaerde is Currently Ambassador at the Permanent representation of Belgium to Nato since 2014.
